I have been using the mittleider method for about a year and a half. I use the grow bed method, and have never tried the grow box method. I live on acreage and the garden the size that I am currently working on is about an acre. All things considered my land is not completely clear from tree stumps so I had to plant in between them and space the garden out.

You can build an adobe house out of the black clay soil that I am cultivating. I have grown about 8 different vegetables including watermelons which my county extension agent told me I couldn't grow in my soil. I have harvested more watermelons than I could hope to eat all year.

I chose the mittleider method because I knew nothing about gardening, desired to become a farmer, and when you consider the benefits nothing else makes sense. I would be here all day just talking about the benefits of a mittleider garden.

I learned about the method on the internet by a link talking about high tomato yields per acre. I was trying to learn if it was still possible in today's world to farm without having hundreds of acres of land.

I have told everyone that will listen about the grow bed method, but I have found few who believe. But there are those who have seen with eyes and tasted with their mouths the fruit of my garden. I have given away much and have sold some to co-workers and side-of- the-road sales.

What I can say about the Mittleider method is, that everything I have attempted to grow has grown. I have never seen defeat in properly following the method. And with all truth and honesty I have not been on top of my garden in any way this year because of my work schedule. The only problem I have run into is the mental block that I have when it comes to raising the bed, leveling the bed, then mixing fertilizer and flattening the bed. I have always been one who not only needs instruction, but I need a map and someone to take me by the hand.

So with confidence I can that it's dummy proof.  I would be more than willing to share this information with any who will hear it.

I plan someday to teach to the kids at the local church school as a means of teaching a craft that will benefit them for the rest of their lives. I think that the food for everyone foundation has done all that it can do to help with my garden. But I would really like to be trained in person and become a master Mittleider gardener.

I most absolutely plan to make this gardening my means of earning a living. I plan to join a couple of farmers markets, I have a local grocery store chain who is willing to buy just about anything I grow according to quality and quantity. I have the utmost confidence that if not immediately, eventually I will be successful. But if I do not earn a living it will not be because I could not grow enough produce using the Mittleider method.

I do not belong to any gardening societies or do I know much about the web.  Even now I am in a library just to use the internet. I would be more than willing to share this information with media in my area, although I am not sure that I would be of much authoriy. I am new at this myself and have much to learn.
My feeling about the grow bed garden is that is's an answer to prayer and an evidence of the providence of God. That is just the only way to describe my feeling concerning the information that I have been priviledged to recieve.
Just one more note.  We have been going through a drought this year and many that I talk to say that they have not had much yield.  When I inquire about the watering of their garden they tell me it doesn't matter how much they water, they yield little.  Needless to say this is not my experience.

thanks

Nicholas

promptly explain to them the Mittleider way.

8. Can you tell us some of your success stories using
the Mittleider
method? Have there been any problems?
My yield is incredible, for such a small space.  The
only 2 problems I had was with blossom-end rot on the
Tomato's but this was due to not following the
watering protocol.  Jim Kennard, quickly diagnosed my
issue and I would like to say, that cleared the
problem up almost immediately.  I have not seen any
other plants with this issue.
I am currently having an issue with Early Blight, I am
looking for a natural way of ridding myself of this
issue.  This too I believe was caused by my own hand
for yet again not following the protocol.  Last year I
attempted to compost my garden refuse.  I don't think
I got my pile hot enough to kill the bacteria.  Plus I
attempted to compost this in the actually garden.  Big
no no, according to the MM way.

My garden by far looks better than anyone in my
neighborhood.  The MM way is the only way I have used.
How about this story.  My neighbors garden did poorly
last year.  She does not believe in using fertilizers.
I explained to her that all mineral have to be water
soiluable before a plant can use it.
This does not change whether or not it comes for
Manure or the Earth.  I explained to her Calcium is
calcium, no matter the source if not it would not be
calcium.  Basic 3 grade level chemistry.  Needless to
say, her husband came over and ask me if I could do
what I did to my garden, to theirs.  Now their garden
is unbelievable.  His wife still does not know that I
am using MM way on her garden.
